Emergency services were called to Water Street in Liverpool city centre at around 6pm after several pedestrians were reportedly struck by a vehicle. Witnesses described chaotic scenes as police, ambulances, and fire services arrived at the scene within minutes.

According to local authorities, multiple people sustained injuries, though the extent of those injuries has not yet been officially confirmed. Officers immediately secured the area and closed off Water Street to ensure public safety while emergency teams tended to the injured.

Home secretary Yvette Cooper publicly addressed the incident on social media, describing it as “shocking and horrendous.” In a statement shared on X, she expressed gratitude to the emergency services for their swift and professional response, adding: “Thank you to the police and emergency services for their swift response to the truly shocking and horrendous scenes in Liverpool this evening.”
